Another Cebuana has proven her mettle and that is her singing as her ticket to success when Janine Berdin, only 16 bagged the top prize of ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ season two held today, June 2 at the Aliw Theater aired via ‘It’s Showtime’.
During the #TNT2HulingTapatan, the petite, but powerful singer from Lapu-Lapu City already wowed both the judges and the audience with her rendition of a rock inspirational song ‘Nosi Balasi’ which was originally popularized by retired model-rock singer Sampaguita (real name is Tessy Alfonso) back in 1989 as a hit single.
After Berdin’s performance, Yeng Constantino described the singer as the ‘New Voice of Original Pilipino Music (OPM)’.
She moved up to the Top Three and competed against Ato Arman of Mindanao and Steven Paysu of North America. Her medley of another rock singer Bamboo (‘Tatsulok’, ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Noypi’) have proven to be her winning performance as she eventually took home an Ultimate Vacation package, music gadgets, Negosyo package, premium TV sets, talent management contract, brand new house and lot from Camella Homes, prestigious trophy designed by TOYM IMAO (a Filipino multi-media artist who excels in both sculpture and painting) and Php2M tax-free cash prize.
She earned 96.11 percent, a total combined average scores from the judges and both online and text votes.
