The towering Filipino professional basketball player from Davao del Sur, Earl Scottie Carreon Thompson or better known as Scottie Thompson is the face behind the brand called Icy Cool Shake, an all-Filipino refreshment buddy.
On Wednesday, March 15, the said brand that promotes variety of shakes intended for kids and adults alike held a bloggers’ conference at McDonald’s-Greenhills, San Juan. The said event also served as a signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Thompson.
Choosing Scottie, the number six shooting guard or point guard of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel team; the athlete’s cool-headedness in the court and his celebrity status were among the points that made the accountant-turned-entrepreneur Icy Mendoza to consider in getting him as an ambassador.
Icy Cool Shake takes pride in its two best-selling and fast-moving variants—the Taro and Buko Pandan blends. It has 18 exciting shake flavors available.
During the question and answer portion, Ms. Mendoza shared how she started with the business. One summer, she was too thirsty and was looking for something to quench her thirst, but there was a scarcity of such products. She also realized that the masses have to content with the sago’t gulaman as drink because that’s the only affordable palamig. Thus, Icy Cool Shake was born.
As of today, the business is now on its fourth year in operations and is now ready or open for franchisers. For only Php80,000 franchising fee and a Php180,000 for product package; those who intend to invest and start being entrepreneurs will find their investments worth growing.
