To most who have been impressed by the 2016 gay-themed film ‘Die Beautiful’—they can’t help but compare the upcoming film of the same theme—‘Deadma Walking’ with Edgar Allan Guzman and Joross Gamboa as two male gay best friends.
The film is based from a screenplay by Eric Cabahug that won second prize at the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 2016 and is directed by Julius Alfonso.
It essays the story of two gay men best of friends. In the film, Gamboa is John, a terminally ill closeted gay, the one who thought of faking his own death in order to attend his own wake and hear his friends’ eulogies about him. Guzman, on the other hand is Mark, the outlandish gay friend of John, a thespian and is the partner-in-crime in staging the fake death and funeral.

Despite the comparison of this film to the gay-themed movie that starred Paolo Bellesteros and Christian Bables—both the director and the writer (Alfonso and Cabahug) of ‘Deadma Walking’ stressed that this Guzman-Gamboa starrer is far from being identical from that of 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival Audience Choice Awardee.
Two Kapamilya hunk actors—Gerald Anderson and Vin Abrenica are also in the film for cameo appearances.
Showing on December 25, ‘Deadma Walking’ takes pride in being graded ‘A’ by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
